Lincolnshire Fostering Service launch their newest episode of their podcast, FosterPod

Fosterpod news

In our latest episode of Foster Pod, we sit down with Practice Supervisor, Ashlie Lembo to explore all things FOCUS Fostering.

Ashlie talks us through what FOCUS Fostering is, how it aims to improve outcomes for local teenagers, and the specialist support available for foster carers who take on this rewarding role.

On the importance of keeping local children in Lincolnshire, Ashlie says "We don't want them [children] to experience anymore loss or separation. We don't want them to be further impacted by being children in care."

As the Local Authority fostering service, we’re committed to ensuring that children in Lincolnshire can stay close to their schools, friends, extended family, and wider support networks. Stability and connection are key, and fostering helps make that possible.

By becoming a FOCUS foster carer, you can support our mission and help transform the lives of local teenagers. You’ll offer guidance, stability, and a positive role model at a crucial time in their lives.

When discussing how FOCUS Fostering differs from mainstream fostering, Ashlie highlights the strength of our existing carers:

“We have a gold standard of foster carers in Lincolnshire. We’re really proud of them and the service we’ve developed to support them.”

“I think for me, the thing that’s different is that we’re recruiting FOCUS foster carers with a specific cohort of children in mind.”

“So, FOCUS fostering is different in that for the first time ever we will have a clinical psychology offer, we will have a dedicated Placement Support Worker, we have 2 Supervising Social workers and we have recruited a training officer. So, the package of support is brand new to Lincolnshire.”
