Support and training

At LFS we understand how important the right support and training is for foster carers, and we are proud to work closely with a range of professionals, including health, mental health services and our foster carer champions to continually develop our support and training offer, ensuring it meets the needs of foster carers and children.

As part of the FOCUS pilot, we have secured a staff member who will focus on developing our training offer, ensuring it is as dynamic and specialised as our foster carers, and the experiences they share with children. FOCUS foster carers will be provided with enhanced level training, alongside our introductory, intermediate and complimentary training suite.

We are also proud to have access to clinical psychology and a child in care mental health worker support, alongside our placement support workers and multi-agency support offer.

All FOCUS foster carers will benefit from weekly professionals’ visits, to ensure they, and the child they care for feel supported. We also provide peer and professional support opportunities via our foster carer hub and drop-in sessions.
